Day 35 and I'm Having FUN!

My mother remarked yesterday that young people these days don’t have enough fun. I thought this an interesting comment. She went on to explain her perception of young couples who are so busy working, taking care of the big fancy house, and running around with the youngster to millions of activities doesn’t give them any time to be a couple. She said “When we were young, we had nothing. But we had a house party at least once a month. And we didn’t just sit around and drink like they do these days, we danced! We had fun!”

My mother has a good point. And while I am not currently in a ‘couple’ I have certainly enough experience to know fully of what she speaks. I call it the Treadmill of Life. It forms one of the basics of the motivational work that I do. I may have to consider getting my mother to come to my workshop as a guest!!

As I count down to my 40th birthday (and beyond) I intend to fill my life with as much fun as possible. I’m not waiting until I am in a couple do it and when the time comes, I’m not going to allow couple-dom to become “couple dum” … haha… (been there, done that). How about you?

Plans for the next 35 days include:

• Girls’ night out for some serious dancing

• Girls’ night in for right-brain activities and NO shop talk

• Wallnuts rock climbing – this will be a first

• Pool – shooting that is, not swimming (although if I get whisked away to a tropical island, I’ll all over it!)

• Reviewing old pictures of me and the kids – did that today – WOW have we ALL changed!

• Planning a Talent Show with my mentee in his grade 6 class

• A night with the kids at the Super 8… although I may pass on the slide myself since I bonked my head pretty badly last time (there may be a height restriction – nothing to do with AGE)

• Hypnosis Show

• Possible trip to Ottawa – there’d be so much fun packed in 5 days that I’d probably have to recover for the next 5 years… hmm… I’ll decide next week

• 4 nights helping other define and execute their personal vision of success – workshop starts next Tuesday! It will be LOADS of fun!

I said at the start of this that I was going to plan less and experience more living each moment as it presents itself. So… worry not, there will be a lot more. I had FUN just writing this! Wa-hoo! And I’m still on that high from buying jeans on Day 36 :)
