Day 29 and I'm NOT Weather-Dependent

Facing another day of rain, drizzle and fog in the metro St. John’s area, I took time to contemplate how the weather can affect how we choose to live our lives. As I count the days to my 40th birthday, I am being deliberate in my choices and they are NOT weather-dependent.

Imagine, if you will, saying No to an invitation because it was raining. Imagine saying No to a networking function because it was snowing. Imagine saying No to a trip to the park because it was too cold. Imagine, that all of this can happen in one day!! It can, and it is a real possibility that your life can pass you by while you wait for perfect weather conditions.

Living in possibility means that I choose to run through the rain to get my Starbucks each day. I choose to jump over puddles in the school parking lot so I can pick my kids up early for a change. I choose to drive through pea soup fog in order to meet someone for coffee. I choose to keep my winter tires on until May so that snow does not stop me from taking advantage of any opportunity to experience life to the fullest.

Regardless of the weather, I choose to have a sunny disposition and find the silver lining behind every cloud. It makes my day so much brighter and impacts those around me, too. I like the effect it has in my world. Spread a little sunshine of your own and before you know it, the weather will have changed again!
